New Communication standards26/07/2016
With effect from the start of August, all NHS organisations will have an obligation to provide disabled people with information in a format they can easily understand, and to provide the communication support they need. This applies to all organisations across the NHS and adult social care system, and we at Orchard will have a policy to explain to patients how we will achieve that.
This document explains simply what the five key requirements of the standard are, and gives some examples of what we will do to try and meet those. We hope that for many of our patients, we already meet these standards, but no doubt the practice will learn from different patients' needs as we progress in developing our communication.
